Discovery Land Company specializes in building luxury residential private club communities and resorts throughout the world.

This is where luxury is redefined. Where memories are made and where families reconnect with the natural world and each other. Discovery Land Company have developed an international portfolio of over 20 private residential communities; each with its own unique character, but all delivering a seamless brand experience. We partnered with Discovery Land Company to create an immersive, storytelling brand experience that showcased their international portfolio and capabilities while acting as a seamless transition across their 23 properties.

DISCOVER YOUR WORLD

Across coastal, desert, mountain and country communities, these are places where we offered each user the opportunity to ‘Discover Your World’. We used captivating short videos to whet the appetite – offering an emotive and engaging glimpse into a different world; a snapshot of possibility. Beginning to immerse the user in more than just a property prospectus…but a whole new lifestyle. These are sanctuaries where you - and those most important to you are truly at home, at peace and at one with the natural surroundings.

Exploring new worlds

These are some of the most amazing places on Earth. So how could we transport people to these amazing sanctuaries? How could we bring them to life? How could we excite and inspire in a simple – yet evocative – way? 

In the same way as we invited the user to ‘Discover your world’, we let them do the discovering themselves; we invited them to explore the site and uncover new delights using a specially created compass cursor to navigate the site. With interactive elements created in WebGL, users can choose to seamlessly transition from scene to scene – taking them on a journey of discovery across fabulous luxury.

Flexible, agile framework

The project required a completely new design system and technology framework - one that was modular in its functionality but elevated the site and all future sites in terms of clarity and storytelling. Working in close collaboration with Discovery and chosen partners this new framework allowed for a more agile and scalable workflow while improving overall performance and experience. 

To support the growing organisation and the multiple stakeholders involved we had to design an extensive system of interchangeable components that would give the respective marketing teams the flexibility to scale and evolve the site using a library of consistent modules. Craft CMS was chosen as the back-end system and allowed greater flexibility for the client when it came to maintenance it also gave them greater design autonomy, allowing them to easily interchange modules and effectively build their own pages as the sites and communities evolved.

Fully responsive, entirely immersive

More than 66 percent of Discovery’s web traffic came from mobile devices, so it was a key objective to ensure we carried the same immersive and compelling experience across all platforms without compromising on performance. The biggest challenge was incorporating the large amount of assets and still ensuring a smooth, seamless experience. We knew we wanted to use video to capture the essence and emotion of what Discovery offers its clients. To do this, we had to employ various hosting, loading and optimisation techniques to ensure a seamless experience across all platforms.
